Importance of a Budget
Have you ever seen an ant colony in action?
Well, due to a traumatic event from when I was a kid [sat in an ant pile!!], I personally cringe when I see ants. However, even I can't deny how well they work together. Every ant has a job. They know exactly what to do & every one falls in line so seamlessly. It's AMAZING.
This is how your money should work. Think of the money you bring in as your own personal army... an army of little dollar bills coming together to help you achieve something. Anything.
Every single dollar you bring in should be given a job. Some should be paying for expenses, some should be saving, and the rest should be investing. And by investing, I mean those dollars should be out recruiting more little dollar bill ant soldiers for your army!
Budgeting helps you do this. It's all about creating a plan that tells your dollar bill army what to do. Have you ever seen an army go into battle without a plan and come out successfully? NO!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Without a budget, you run the risk of not knowing where your money is going. Spending aimlessly is usually what causes people to live paycheck to paycheck. You do not deserve the anguish of spending 40 hours each week working super hard, only to get to the end of the month with nothing left in your pocket. You deserve more for yourself, your family, and your goals. You deserve the freedom of feeling comfortable with your money situation.
BUT - only you can decide you're willing to work for it.
Once you decide, my goal is to help you to get there.
Budgeting gives you peace of mind and the freedom to go after your goals. It's not meant to be a burden.
Here's a list of things a budget can help you do:
- build self-discipline
- prepare for unexpected expenses
- get out of debt - and stay out!
- build your credit
- save money for a big purchase
- reduce stress
- stay healthy
- save for retirement
- learn about personal finance
- create space for healthy conversations around money
